JEE Main 2025 Session 2 is Over: What’s Next?
The JEE Main 2025 Session 2 has officially concluded, marking a key milestone for lakhs of engineering aspirants across India. Held by the National Testing Agency (NTA) between April 2nd and April 9th, this was the last opportunity for students to boost their percentile and secure eligibility for JEE Advanced 2025.
While the official results and cut-offs are still awaited on the NTA portal jeemain.nta.nic.in, student discussions and expert analysis have already started painting a fairly clear picture of what to expect next.
Expected Cut-Off at JEE Main 2025
As per Vidyalankar’s expert analysis, the expected cut-off for the General category is likely to fall in the range of 90 to 92 percentile. This estimate is based on the overall difficulty level, past trends, and patterns observed in student performances across shifts.
Though this is a predicted range, it provides a realistic benchmark for students to assess their chances of qualifying for JEE Advanced 2025. Keep in mind, the final cut-offs will be declared by NTA after normalization and evaluation of all shifts.
Exam Difficulty: Session 2 Mirrors Session 1
The overall difficulty level of Session 2 was quite similar to Session 1, as reported by students and experts alike. Both sessions tested conceptual clarity, presence of mind, and time management.
Physics was on the moderate side, with questions centered around core concepts and straightforward numericals. It rewarded students with a strong understanding of fundamentals.
Chemistry also remained moderate in difficulty, largely based on NCERT content. The paper featured a well-balanced mix of Organic, Inorganic, and Physical Chemistry, with several direct but slightly tricky questions that required attention to detail.
Mathematics, yet again, proved to be the most challenging section. Students faced lengthy, calculation-heavy problems that demanded in-depth understanding, accuracy, and speed. Many found this section time-consuming and overwhelming, a sentiment echoed by those who appeared in Session 1 as well.
Across both sessions, the paper not only tested academic preparation but also mental stamina and time management, especially in the Maths section.
What Should You Do Now?
✅ If You’re Confident You’ve Cleared the Cut-Off:
Now’s the time to shift your focus entirely to JEE Advanced 2025 preparation. This phase demands a sharper approach — dive deep into high-weightage chapters, strengthen your conceptual understanding, and start solving advanced-level problems. Make mock tests and previous year papers a regular part of your routine to build exam temperament and improve speed and accuracy. Remember, JEE Advanced is not just about knowledge — it’s about application, logic, and time-tested practice.
❓ If You’re Unsure or Unhappy With Your Performance:
Don’t worry — this is not the end of the road. There are still multiple prestigious entrance exams ahead, including MHT-CET, BITSAT, VITEEE, and others. Each of these offers excellent opportunities to get into reputed engineering colleges. What matters now is a positive mindset and a smart, revised strategy. With the right guidance and focused preparation, your dream college is still well within reach.
