F r i e n d s  !

You  have  now  achieved  a  landmark with this B.E. degree,  and  reached  a  great  moment  of  decision  making. You  must be  proud and  rightfully so. By all  standards, your  success  is  indeed  commendable. You  have  relentlessly  maintained  a  resolute  progress  on  a  difficult  path  towards  the  goal  of  becoming  an  engineer.  You have needed strength  of  mind  and  body  to  study  hard  from  school  days, at least from your 10th  standard  onward. You  have probably  sacrificed a  lot  by  missing  some  pleasures  and  fun  time  in  order  to  study  more  effectively.  You  toiled  day  and  night  while  some  of  your  friends  were  frolicking,  thinking  that  they  were  enjoying  life,  but  were, in  fact  wasting  precious  time. Do accept our hearty congratulations.

Surely, your  thoughts  are  now  focused  on  how  to  make  the  best use  of  your  education  for  further  progress  in  life. Now,  this  depends  on  your  aspirations,  aims  and  objectives at  this  juncture  in  life.  You have  to  set  up  your  next  higher  ultimate  goal. First  and  foremost,  all  of  us  want  to  be  happy and prosperous and of course there is nothing  wrong  in  that !

Do aim to earn a lot of money. But that is not all. You  want  a  job  or  a  career  that  gives  you  satisfaction. You do want  to  be  proud what of you  can  create & design something original. This will make you a leader.

Moreover,  you  certainly  do wish  to contribute to  the  progress  of  the  society  in  which  you  live, to  the  progress  of  the  great  nation  of  ours  India  is  looking  for  your  participation  more  than  ever our country is expected to be with  your  help,  a  superpower  in another  20  years  or  so . Your  generation  is  lucky  in  that  respect. But  you  need to do  your  best. The global scenario is undergoing a tremendous transformation very rapidly. Though there seems to be a gap in the economic conditions  of  the  developed  and  developing  nations at present, great future is predicted for China,  India in the caning couple of decades.

Our  younger  generation,  at  least  the  top  echelons intelligent original and creative are extremely motivated and hard  working. India,  in  particular  can  boast  of  a  top  class  education  system. As  such,  phenomenal  progress  is  possible  in  a  large  number  of  areas like  Information  Technology, Computer  Applications, Manufacturing, etc. that is to  mention  only  a  few. The coming 2 or 3 decades  will  demand even more than  money  and  labor, assets like knowledge and creative thinking. Hereafter,  India and  China will  plan,  design,  manufacture  and  service  many  high  quality, desirable  goods useful to  life. We  already do  have  scientific  and  management-oriented  young  boys  in great numbers. Number of people is our strength  ..  not a problem in this regard. But  they  are  to  be  better  molded  and  trained and directed.

Your Role
You  need  to  join  the  firebrand  brigade  of  the  new  creators. You  need  to  equip  yourself  with  better    arms  and  weapons. Power..  not  of  the  variety  that  originates  in  guns  or  bombs. You  need  something  even  more  powerful. Knowledge..,  knowledge..  and  even more  knowledge…  !! More training  ..  more  education.

“Education”,  said  Swami  Vivekanand  ..  “is  not  mere  accumulation  of  bookish  information..,  but    development  of  the  mind to  achieve  a  capability  of  understanding  and analysing problems  and  the  ability  to  think  objectively to  come  up  with  solutions”. Higher  education  means  higher  efforts  to  train  and  develop  analytical  minds  with  clearer  thinking  power. In  practical  terms,  in  the  field  of  engineering  ,it  amounts  to  going  for  the  appropriate  post- graduate  course.

So,  friends, all  of  you  who  wish  to  make  a  mark, automatically do  more  than  a  routine  job. You cause innovations, development, and improvement you proudly contribute  to  the developing and growing industrial  knowledge. But it is necessary you get the best education, through the best post graduate institutes in the country. New  developments  in  engineering  are  indeed profound  and  voluminous it  is  simply  impossible  to  complete  education at  the  first  degree  level. But the best  engineering  post  graduate  education  is  obviously available  in  our country like the coveted Indian  institutes  of  technology.

But reaching there, is certainly not easy. You need very special efforts and guidance.

We, at  "vidyalankar"  are  specialists. Our  endavour  is  precisely  to  help  and  cultivate  your  genius. You require a friendly  hand  to  lead  you  through  the  "GATE". That  ensures  your  entry  into  the  best  institutes.

Dr. M. V. Khemchandani

Educational Qualification

·            B.E. (Hons) Mechanical (Jabalpur University)

·            M.Tech. (Design) (IIT BOMBAY,Mumbai)

·            Ph.D. (Tribology) (IIT BOMBAY,Mumbai)

Dear Student,

After B.E., one probably realizes how important and necessary higher education is !  Despite  the job-boom, one becomes aware of the skill-gloom!  The B.E. candidates at best know merely 'How' and have no answer to 'Why?'.  They have an overview of a number of subjects, but now there is a revelation - that Post Graduate studies alone can and will offer to them  an 'in-depth' and a conceptual insight into the fundamentals of any given subject.

Application oriented learning is also offered really, only, at the post graduate level. In todays world of acute competition and specialization, post graduation - i.e. a  much more detailed study of a subject, alone, will induce the type of confidence one aspires for, and that is essential to acquire success.

In-depth knowledge is necessary, so is its application to our daily life.  That is what an engineer is for. One can’t hope to achieve this without Post Graduation. After post-graduation alone, one's attitude towards a problem changes.  One deals with a problem much more open heartedly, conceptually, positively and maturely.

I have been lucky to spend nothing less than thirty-long years at the IIT, Mumbai,  that is rated the 7th Rank University in the world.

At the IIT, the syllabi themselves are dynamic and they necessarily deal with industrial growth, trends in the market, research needed and development, on the whole.  As all are aware. IITs offer the most equipped and advanced laboratories of international standards; the examiners are often drawn from the industry in order to make the learning totally practical.

The IIT faculty is far superior to any other faculty of any Indian or foreign university.  The staff there, are looked upon with pride and envy even by the highest ranking universities and they are always invited abroad, to the best of universities, to offer their expertise and consultation.  An added value is a strong alumni base of the IITs - a network that is exceedingly effective, especially for 'Placements'.

I wish to state, with confidence and no hesitation, that the Study Material at Vidyalankar is prepared meticulously, focusing on the trend and the pattern of the 'GATE' exam.  The fundamental concepts are so well simplified and clarified, that a candidate would not have any difficulty in solving any problem in any subject.  Tremendous practice is afforded in numericals, which is indeed the most important aspect to excel in a competitive exam like GATE.  The Test Series is structured and directed to offer ample practice to the students to appear for 'Full Length Tests' confidently, to attain definite success.

The proof of my statement lies in the fact that students who have had their basic training at Vidyalankar have landed in the best of jobs in Research, Development and Industry.

Thus, I have no hesitation in recommending Vidyalankar Training for either the IIT JEE or GATE exams - pre-requisites to IIT Training, which is equal to the best in the world.

Q.1      Why should people go for higher studies like M.Tech. etc ?

A post-graduate degree from IITs/and or other /Institutes of Higher learning do make a difference to a student’s career.

Higher education can help an intelligent student get dream jobs to through research development , creativity and intelligence. Or, those already at work can gain job satisfaction, promotion and better rewards, i.e. a change for the better. Higher learning offers a much broader  spectrum of services to solve a “students” challenges, either in Research or Industry.

Q.2      Why should a student dream to go to institutes like IIT ?

IITs are internationally rated very high.

There are great opportunities to engineers in general, but for M. Techs the prospects are even better. The prestigious technological / professional institutions like the IITs, AIIMS or premier Engineering / Medical colleges offer varied career opportunities. An Engineer in any discipline has multifarious openings available. In the wake of liberal economic policy of the government, the rapid industrial growth, coupled with the ensuing invasion of the multinational companies, is likely to boost the existing demand for engineers from all disciplines. This demand will be in addition to the demand for civil, mechanical and electrical engineers in to government services, public sector and armed forces. Rapid growth of the electronic sector will also require a lot of electronic / computers engineers in the near future.

Again an engineer with management qualifications a techocrat is expected to excel in discharge of his duties. Of late engineers have also been taking lion’s share in the administrative services of the government. More than one third of the total selected candidates for civil services are engineers, as is evident from the trend in recent years.

In addition to the above mentioned opportunities, engineering graduates also excel in self-employment. Be it a small industrial project, electronic business, construction activity, mechanical venture or fabrication activity, engineers perform extremely, well in their own business ventures.

There are several specialized fields of engineering, over and above the routine degree of B.E. in civil, mechanical, electrical, electronic branches etc. Since the number of candidates completing degree courses in these specialized courses is less, the candidates can hope to find better openings, with special training. These fields include Aeronautical Engineering, Ceramic Engineering, Dairy Technology, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mining Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Paper / Paint Technology, Petroleum / Oil Engineering, Textile Engineering, Fashion Technology, Naval Architecture, etc. Most of the specialized courses require engineers with special skills.

Q.3.     How can Vidyalankar Study Material help them to achieve their goal ?

The study material of Vidyalankar is prepared by highly qualified and experienced (retired) IIT Professors, who have had a lot of experience of paper-setting / examining / conducting M. Tech and other (and their like) examinations. This material is bound to encourage the students to set their aims high and give them the confidence to make the most of their potential.

GATE results for 2005 of Vidyalankar amply illustrates the point that the students have been greatly benefited by Vidyalankar Training in the Classroom & also through Correspondence Courses.
